Why this design?
The Twine Ripper is designed to be versatile, durable and lightweight. The handle is made from aluminum alloy and has two handle options. The large end fits great in your hand, allowing you to utilize the blade to cut and then the narrow end to pull on those strings WITHOUT taking off your gloves and mittens on those cold, windy winter days.
While holding the small end, it can be used as a hammer to smash ice chunks and loosen frozen hay clumps.
The retractable blade prevents unnecessary dulling, and increases user safety - no exposed blades to watch out for around children or rambunctious animals!

What happens when my blade dulls?
Being a high carbon steel, this will take a while. Your first option is to reverse your blade as they are double edged. Gently remove the screw from the plastic slide. Remove the plastic slide and carefully reverse the blade to expose the fresh, sharp edge.
Your second option is to contact us for spare blades - we can ship them for a low fee.

How long does the Twine Ripper last?
My parents purchased their first two knives in 1995 for our family farm. We have replaced a couple blades and have continued to use the knives. Occasionally they were lost and new knives were purchased. Luckily, some knives have been found due to the bright pink slide on the knife.
